One of my main Shinohara turnouts failed on me a couple of weeks ago - one of the points detached from the switch rod (the metal between the point and the switch rod fatigued after 20 years of service). I contemplated trying to solder the two metal pieces together while poised over the switch and decided I couldn't make it happen. Before I ripped up the switch and bought another, I got out the epoxy.... With a pretty careful application and some frequent operation of the switch, I think it's functional again. Crossed fingers.
