Happy Labor Day, gang.
69 and cloudy with a rain shower on the way. Should be here in the next half hour or so. Had a low grade thunderstorm last evening with some thunder and lightning and about an inch and a quarter of rain. Additional chances for rain almost every day in the coming week.
Yesterday was very quiet around here. Seems like most of the neighbors were either working or out of town. The oak trees however did not take a break. Lots and lots (and lots) of acorns to be gathered later today. One neighbor just got home from her 24 hour shift as an EMT/firefighter and will probably take a nap so I will be considerate and wait a wile before herding the acorns. Also too lazy to start right now.
I got the boiler off the 0-6-0 but haven't figured out how to remove the covering over the gear tower. Looks like I'll be spending more time on the internet.
Another of my strange dreams last night - I found a secret mode on my TomTom brand GPS. If you push a certain button just right the GPS switches to a black and white screen that looks like a paper drawing. In that mode you can drive directly to your destination. No need to stick to the roads, no traffic, no stop signs, just nothing. When I got to my destination I met my late granddaughter and her boyfriend but had to use the restroom really bad. After that I ran in to a friend from high school and was showing him about the secret setting. Discovered that it doesn't work if you are under the canopy over gas pumps. Moved the car out from under that and it worked fine.
I need to make a quick trip to Walmart for a couple of things but since the rain has just arrived I'll wait a while for that. Otherwise I'll be gathering acorns later.
Matt - hope the docs can figure out the problem and you have a speedy recovery.
