Well, it turns out the driver of the truck was pulling that trailer with a truck that was not rated for the load. The fact the tire blew out didnt help matters. The driver was wearing her seat belt which probably saved her life. I'm glad you liked the lighting systems. They all run independent of each other and can be controlled. The car system you are talking about is made by Faller. I have looked at it and even thought about doing it. To much money, to much tearing out whats already there. I think I will stick with a semi animated scene with lights. 
I wish I could have posted the night shots, but the camera doesnt like all of the flashing lights and darkness. Maybe when I get the vehicles out on the layout and get the street lights and real scenery around the vehicles you will see just how, well in my opinion anyways, realistic the light systems look.
