Is the worm shaft a MDC one, or a NWSL replacement? My advice is to replace the HUGE MDC universals with smaller ones from NWSL. I actually replaced the entire gearbox with a much smaller one from NWSL. The MDC one was almost so big that it scraped on turnout rails on my HOn3 version.
