Yes, bric-a-brac is a common US phrase. I built a Carol's Corner Cafe a while back (one of my very first DPM kits, if not the first I ever asssembled) and seems to me I left off the corner post also. I think it looks better without it.
The interiors are nice! Your window display has an almost 'python-esque' animation feel to it, if you know what I mean. I think it's the older graphics colored so vividly. Nice.
