Adding a flashing becon light

In the days before DCC, there were several companies that sold kits to do exactly this. I don't know if those kits are still available, but this link might be what I am thinking of:

In the absence of said kit, you could make your own. The easiest method would probably be using a "blinking LED". I know they make red and yellow, but am not sure about other colors or what sizes. You would need a resistor for the LED circuitry, plus a combination of diodes to make it work in both forward and reverse. Keep in mind it will only flash while there is power to the rails (train is moving). Or, you could build your own oscillator circuit and use a standard LED or grain of wheat bulb. I would first try the kit, and if that won't work for you I may be able to help you build an oscillator circuit.
