There's no reason the Atlas unit wouldn't work. It's more advanced than the Bachmann and does more 'real' DCC stuff, like you can use your own address - like the cab number of the loco, rather than program button 1 to be the cab forward, button 2 to be the GP-40, etc. ANy DCC system will work with any DCC decoder. And the cheapy decoders in those Bachmann locos are made by the same company that made the Atlasmaster DCC system - Lenz.
