WoW..!! Great to see that train running..!! Looks like you're just about finished with that layout. It's just plain great... 
I wouldn't worry about "updating" when you haul out the modern iron...I see them all the time downtown, which dates to the 40's....Maybe just swapping the cars for some more modern ones.
But I would put a cabbie on the end...No matter what the era....
