The only visible spotting feature I'm aware of across all engines produced is the presence of two vents behind the cab on the SD70ACe for the inverters (seen in my Union Pacific shot) that are not needed on the SD70M-2 model

There are other subtleties based on a railroads' production run of units, however. On Norfolk Southern at least there are also differences in trucks, dynamic brakes, and cabs between SD70M-2 and SD70ACe deliveries.
