I strongly suspect CGI, but so far the locomotive shown appears to be a 2-6-0 with the wrong spacing for the driving wheels. Not sure, because we never get a good view of the pilot wheels. The coach, boxcar and caboose seem to be generically correct - certainly the producers have not provided more space inside than is possible based on the outside dimensions, a common Hollywoody failure. The railroad magnate's car is small, dingy, and looks barely comfortable and the Swede's car is spartan in the extreme, about what you might expect from a guy bossing his operation from the front.
I do note, however, that the rails laid at the rail head camp are not ballasted, which would be historically correct.
I do question the constant use of blasting when driving a very shallow cut across relatively flat ground. Probably just for looks and background.
At least it's not another competition or reality show.
