Wow Charlie, you really have a lot going on! When I look at your photos I'm impressed by the size of your layout with its many different scenes! Hmmmmm, mud splotched on the tracks could maybe be represented by dry brushed splotches of brown paint, I'd think, if I understand the effect you're after. I have to say I'm drooling over the long roster of Pennsy diesels on that shelf in the background of some of your pics!

Ralph, most of the ones you see are too new (era) to be on the layout, nor are they good runners, most being old AHM or Modelpower. Not bad looking to display but would never win awards for detail
