How do you catch them if they do get in the house, and do you have to be careful not to get bitten?

They're not hard to catch.
You just have to distract them and pick them up.
I don't know anyone that ever got bitten by one around here. My son would catch Tarantulas, black widows, scorpions and snakes and never got bitten once.
