All I can say is
Haven't seen anyone go this route before, but the results should be interesting, whether it works well or whether a failure. I'd probably never go through this much trouble for a truck sideframe; I'd just find something that looked close enough and figure nobody would know. But, there are many times where I've considered resin casting for items where nothing close is available. This may be an alternative.
