Google Earth+Ebay = new project?
#14
Just an update here - I am still slowly working on this project. You can see the details around the smokebox, and I have added piping to the air pump. I'm pretty much ready to paint the superstructure - I am going to try using a few of those rivet decals from Micro Mark to add a few lines of rivets to the saddle tank, and to the top of the oil tank in the back. Maybe grab bar on top of the pilot, and a few nut-bolt-washer castings to the front and rear pilot beams that look rather naked. I also added a piece of plastic inside the smokebox to hold a screw that binds the boiler to the frame. I've added electrical pickups to the front two sets of drivers, and am working on pickups for the rear set, and debating how to add electrical pickup to the pilot and trailing trucks. I have all the gears and drive components, I just need to make a few brackets to hold things, and it should run fine.

Behind the loco is a tank car I am building. I had an old flat car that I cut down from a standard gauge car. It never looked right to me because it sat high and the queenposts hung low. So, I added a tank from a MDC old time tank car that came as part of one of those 3-in-1 kits. All it needs is paint on the tank, and I will spray it black at the same time I spray the loco shell.
