Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it...My current plan is to ditch any effort in putting a motor within the boiler, it really is much too narrow for that and there is no meat to grind away to make it larger. However, I will put the motor and gearbox in the tender itself, the engine will just be there for the ride. I'll be able to fit a flywheel and motor I already have and only need to find a gearbox to fit the tender axle.

On another another, it boggles the mind that one can commit so much capitol, tool work and engineering and use only minimal grade materials and parts. Steel wheels...really? Nope 357
