Then you can bend up a link from wire and use a couple of small nails for pins.
Doesn't look quite as good as a proprietary L&P, but it has all the operational inconveniences.
Before all the rolling stock has a beautiful pin and link system but it was not reliable at all. If you have a system please may you post some photos.
