Now I am no expert on lionel trains. I have just lived thro all of Lionel's attempts to make and sell HO scale trains. I've see alot of them. I have a few of their cars and locomotives. My reason for having them is their use of the English ( John English-HObbyline ) dies to create their first Lionel made locomotives. Mainly the pacific 4-6-2 type. When they made their pacific they slightly changed it. The placed a square cover atop the boiler against the cab. Above this they put a turret cover. The turret cover inclosed the valves and piping that feed steam for auxiliary uses. The square cover was large enough to look like a small belpare firebox top the size used on the PRR K2 locomotives. The Pennsy is one of my main roads. The USRA tender Lionel used also looked like a PRR tender so if the price was right I aquired a PRR K2 pacific.
Here is one of my PRR K2's I got this way. PRR #5730. The tender is a Bachmann tender.
