Reinhard has got it in one. You model the ordinary VERY well. That realism goes a long way towards operating enjoyment. And I'm saying this as a person who generally believes you should try and cram as many exciting and fun things into a scene...balanced with the right amount of plain/ordinary structures, of course. And that 'right amount' is going to vary from person to person.
