Actually I think that there was an article in MR or MR Planning about a guy who did something similar by building a layout in a box trailer like that because he figured that he would have to move at some stage. His arguement was that when it came time to move all he had to do was remove the services [and a few other bits and pieces no doubt] and then just hitch up the trailer to his truck and go.

It will never be quite as simple as that of course, but the basic theory is sound as long as you have the room to park the trailer at both ends of the move. Given the prevalence of mobile homes in the US, they could provide a similar solution.
In part, both ideas would also depend upon which areas of the States you are most likely to live and work.
