I had an earlier thread discussing the merits of my plan design for my version of "the Patch" in Los Angeles. Now things are starting to come together so I thought I would start a fresh thread to record my progress. No pictures as of yet but I have acquired two of the three hollow core doors I will need although they are only 15" wide rather than the planned 16". I don't see that as an issue although I think I will take that missing inch from the back of the layout rather than the front of the layout. I have also managed to pick up all the tournouts, including the three way turnout in the middle of Mill Street, and most of the flextrack. I have picked up a few structures to get started with for the background portion of the layout but I will need to get the backdrop into place first. Since the backdrop will not be mounted directly to the layout I can begin track laying as soon as I have some time, hopefully in the coming week or so.
I'm posting the layout again so you can see what the plan will be. I have also joined the herd and started my own blog, mostly to encourage myself to make progress in both my hobbies. You can find the blog here: http://wargamesandrailroads.blogspot.com/. Model Railroading is really my second hobby so its not going to get quite the same attention as my main hobby of gaming.
