Liliput, yes I know them. They were okay, the detailing you are refering too was pretty common, particularly locomotives made by the fellow Austrian Roco company. They had MU hoses etc (where applicable), and many other separately applied details. (they were pretty much the only european main stream modelrailroad company to provide additional details in little plastic bags).
Roco was in my opnion, well ahead of the game, and although considerably more expensive than an Athearn BB, they were similar to Kato or other quality brands, and cheaper than Marklin or Fleischmann..
