I tried that "Control" thing with the mouse, and it worked great.  I had never been aware of that feature, and was surprised that things didn't revert back to the original font size after I closed here.  Not only is everything legible, but when I type in a message here, I get the increased font size without having to re-select it. 

Count me as a satisfied customer!

Yeah, I like it too, it works in a lot of programs as well. My DTP, CAD and even Word uses that to enlarge or shrink a page. But, unlike a browser, when you reopen the program, you have to resize the page again.
