A big thank you for posting these CPR boxcar photos, they will be a good reference guide for selecting a more uniform colour regarding my future projects.
As you mentioned in your post, over the years the railroad companies had variances in their colour choices.
Right now, I have different CPR boxcars from different manufacturers and the colour varies from light brown to a dark chocolate brown.
The ideal situation would be to have at least a brown that will be more in the same colour pallet.
