Good evening folks

Whatever we do this weekend, it will involve avoiding the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. The tournament has significantly affected my travel over the past two days. Yesterday, I had a doctor’s appointment in Paoli and got caught in heavy traffic. I had to go west just to head east, and at some point, I still had to cross the main road by the club to get home. What is normally a 45-minute rush-hour drive turned into nearly two hours. Tonight, my commute home from the office was just as bad. Several major highways were packed with people heading to the tournament. My usual 30-minute drive home from Fort Washington took 90 minutes. So, this weekend, we’ll be staying well away from Newtown Square. The original location of the course was at the end of my street. Our area is called Aronimink and my children went to Aronimink Elementary School.

We do have some errands to run such as the grocery store, the produce store, and a couple of special stores. There are a couple of plants that need to be planted. I ordered cleaner to remove the algae off the north side siding. If it comes that will be on the list.

Since the weather is supposed to be nice, I am hoping to begin sealing some rolling stock and doing some decals. I am still working on the Trade Tower and I am hoping to run some trains.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

My wife has been watching bits of it. I don't understand. They go to a lot of convoluted effort to get that little ball in that little hole ... and then they take it out again.

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.

Good evening folks

We had a somewhat productive weekend. Saturday, we planted a bunch of plants my wife got for Mothers’ Day. My son took her to a local cemetery that has a greenhouse where they sell plants. He paid for them as her Mothers’ Day gift. I also moved an azalea bush from one garden to another and hope it will do better in its new location. Sunday, we had to drop a package off at UPS Store and then a couple of Amazon returns at Kohls. Then we went to the Upper Darby Greek Festival. Great food and my wife found a few trinkets to buy. We brought home a boatload of goodies.

Since the weather was nice, I decided to gloss coat a bunch of Accurail rolling stock I need to renumber. To my surprise I found I had already renumbered a bunch of cars over the winter but had not sealed them due to the cold weather. I dull coated 15 cars. I did gloss coat a couple of cars. Next step renumbering. I was able to run some trains.

Work today with the heat was brutal. Weather app says the high was 92. My car thermometer said 98. All I know it was hot. Tomorrow will be more of the same. IF the rain stays away, I will be working Wednesday night switching traffic patterns at the Norristown Interchange. If it rains, we can’t work since we can’t paint pavement markings on wet pavement.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

Greetings, gang.

A rather cool 37 degrees in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. Only going to 60 for the next couple of days then warming through the weekend culminating (nice word, Tom) around the mid 80s on Monday.

Graduation accomplished according to the manual on Saturday. On Sunday the grandkids showed up and we all had a super nice visit on Sunday and Monday. Yesterday's drive home was routine. I did manage to get some close up pictures of DDA40X #6924. I still need to process them and will put them up later in the week.

Today is lawn mowing day and pother catch up chores. I'll also try to get in a bike ride.

Gas was $4.22 when I got back to town yesterday.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Much warmer this morning at 51 degrees but the predicted high remains the same as yesterday at about 60. Chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow morning.

I did get the lawn mowed yesterday but that's about all. Still tired from the trip. Not sure what I'm going to do today.

I lost my gamble on gas prices. Around here the gas stations raise their prices around mid to late morning on Wednesday. Thought I'd beat the system and fill the car before that happened. With the approaching holiday I figured prices would go up. Wrong. Price this morning on Gas Buddy was down to $4.13. Oh, well.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Gloomy with some light showers in the area. 50 going to the upper 60s later.

Yesterday was not as productive as I would have liked. Went to the gym and started walking the track to get the blood circulating. Did 3/4 mile and then started on resistance work. Did about 3 machines and decided I was still tired from the trip. Gave up and came home. The rest of the afternoon was spent resting. Went to my Thursday group and had boneless wings with Korean BBQ sauce. That stuff is pretty spicy!

This morning will be serious stock up run for the kitchen cupboards. The entire 2' x 3' chalk board is covered with needed items. I need to be in front of the TV at 1 PM central time for the second annual running of the Great Oscar Meyer Wienermobile Race being televised on Fox. Looks to be a fun half hour.

Got the baseball schedule for one of the great-grandsons. He has 15 games in 30 days. His older brother has only 12 games in 5 weeks. Go figure.

Gas continues to drop. Down to $4.09 this morning.

All stay safe.

Good morning all

I have little to report. Rain again today, which is adding to the record amount we have had for May.  My yard looks like a hay field and will be at least a week before it dries out enough to mow.

I finished a couple little train projects last night and did an early bed time.

My laptop would not load yesterday morning, and I suspect the hard drive is going bad. It is a solid state drive and hasn't lasted as long s I would have liked. This was the second time so I let that be the excuse to get the machine I really need for photo and video editing. It should arrive today.  I will put a new drive in this one and use it as a dedicated layout controller. I have the wifi adapter for the layout.  I can use my phone but it will be nice to have the computer to access all of the functions and programming decoders.

On another note, I talked with DrWaynes wife Monday. He was with his daughter so I did not get a chance to talk with him.  He is failing rather fast. The last time we talked, about 3 weeks ago, he mentioned he had a lot of model trains. He also said he takes the motors out of them so he can just push them around.  I think this is one of the memories he has because he always put drivers and drive gear together and tested them by rolling them on a glass pane. Marleen says he hasn't done a thing with his trains for months.  It was heartbreaking for me to talk to him realizing he was wandering into his own little world. He still knew who I was but I wonder how much of our railfanning and talking times he has lost.

CNNutbar took him to the hobby shop last Friday but I don't hear from Ed anymore and he isn't posting hear. I lost Ed on FB when I had a glitch so we don't communicate there either.  Getting old is bad, but losing track of your friends is worse.

Try for a good week end

Good evening folks

We are looking at rainy holiday weekend which means we won’t be doing much outside. I may try to clean the fishpond filter between storms. We don’t have much planned for the weekend, never do for Memorial Day weekend. The weather always seems crappy around here. We will probably make a run to the grocery store and I’m not sure where else if any.

My holiday weekend will end at 2 AM Monday night as I have to go and complete the daily traffic construction sign inspections. I have to visit six PA Turnpike Interchanges. Since it is the middle of the night the inspection will take two and a half hours instead of the normal four to five with traffic. The goal is to be home before 5 AM and the morning rush. I will go to bed because I am working Tuesday night 5 PM to 5 AM as we are switching stages at the Norristown Interchange.

I have not seen any Memorial Day Poppies in decades it seems. Today on the way home from work I stopped at the Acme grocery store in Manoa and there were two veterans selling them. I bought one on the way out.

I plan on running trains. I finished the break-in run for my BLI B&O Consolidation. Now it is time to run it with cars behind it. I have some rolling stock I need to finish inventorying. I hope to get back to assembling the Trade Tower kit. I also have some Accurail cars to renumber. I love their renumbering decals.

Charlie thanks for the update. Contact me on Facebook and I can send you a friend suggestion for Ed. He is on my friend list and I see his posts there but he has not talked to me in a long time.

I hope everybody has a good evening.

Greetings, gang.

57 under clear skies this morning and it looks like the National Weather Service has flipped our weather switch from mid spring to summer. Recently temps have been in the low to mid 50s. Today's high is supposed to be in the mid 70s then the low to mid 80s all of next week.

Shopping accomplished and the chalk board is cleared off. I shouldn't have to hit any stores until sometime next week. Today's activities will include laundry this morning and a bike ride this afternoon. I did watch the 2nd annual Great Wienermobile Race from Indianapolis yesterday. Just about every juvenile joke you can think of involving meat, buns, and wieners was used.

Charlie - thanks for the update on Wayne.

Gas down again this morning to $4.06.

All stay safe.

Hello Blue
Our morning sky is rainy with a chilly breeze. 53 degrees. Not a nice day for those with outdoor doings. No holiday plans so far, hope one of the kids will give an invite for a burnt offering on Monday.
