Since I retired in 2023 and got back into HO, I managed to pick up several of the John English Yard Birds...PRR A5s 0-4-0's. I even like the white metal, maybe that's me though. Here is one of my recent favorites...it has the extra valve gear and extra (Bowser, I think) detail parts. It's is the only Yard Bird I have with any zinc rot on it. It is only on the cylinder casting. It's on my "To-do" list to try and inject some low viscosity CA glue into the cracks with needles. I'd like to keep tge original casting, if possible. So far nothing has flaked off. Wish me luck.

Love the brass details! I'm guessing that the zinc rot is not structural? Would you fill it before painting?

Good to see you're back in the saddle, and we'll be looking forward to more future posts.
