3/11/2009. Johnstown, Pa. I was on my way to Windber Pa to do a track inspection on the track to the mine and saw this location and was lucky enough to catch a train.

September, 1976 Helping a westbound at MP 50, East Palestine, Ohio.     There is a grade out of town to the west that is about a mile long and a 0.88% grade (approximate rise of 10.5 inches per 100 feet) The track speed at this time was 10 MPH and that was stretching it, so helpers were not uncommon here. Here is a revised copy of the local track chart.
