Back when brakes were still used going downgrade. Coal train with 2 helpers on the head end  and 2 on the rear.

That is a LOT of smoke.
Why is it not common anymore?  I assume they were using dynamic braking as well?

NS 39G started its approach to the Delair Bridge then stopped.  The engineer made an adjustment, and they continued on.
