i have a atlas number 6 curved turnout that has been giving me fits trains will run through it fine for a while then suddenly they stall in the turnout i have installed numerous jumpers to no ad vale its a nickel silver custom line code 100. i hate the thoughts of shelling out the price of a replacement to have it do the same thing. any thoughts of what night be the problem.

I'm no expert, but these Qs come to mind.

both directions?
all locos?
some locos?
a single loco?
same problem when loco turned end -for - end?
with multiple jumpers attached, I don't think it's the switch.

just my 2 cents.

both directions all motive power unless there are three or four  
switching locos don't seem to help
checked gauge its on the money 
checked level its ok

I had this happen a while ago.
the track had a bad spot in it. (the road bed wasn't holding the track level when weight was on it.
Let the train run to the area until it stalls
Gently push down on the roof of the loco above the wheels. One finger just to see if all the truck's wheels are touching the rails.
Mine turned out to be that one side of the trucks would raise up and cut off power to the engine.

Jim, is it a power routing switch?  if so it could be dirt between the point rails and mains. It could also be as simple as a loose rail joiner.

Any chance a track nail worked it's way between the points? May only be touching one rail, but when you run the loco over, it shorts? Weird stuff in any case.

well so far it looks like NG is the winner it is temp related loaded the test car up with the weight of a loco and it showed that the track went out of lever. will replace the turnout and then see it cured the problem will have to order a new turnout,

Very Cool!!! In G scale, it was way harder to replace the 2 track pieces. Let us know how it works when you're finished Smile Smile Smile

to add the fixed rail was the problem when the weight of the loco caused the rail to drop slightly thus causing the moveable rail to lose contact with the stock rail causing a open circuit 
a slight push with the o=5=0 would cause the loco to close the circuit or of it was 3 or 4 locos there would be enough momentum to push lead loch over the opening.
