Current Projects
Matt,

You have a lot of projects going on.
I'm curious about the front loader model.  I'm always looking for new machines.
Who is the mfr?  Is that an old matchbox?  It looks plastic yet has rivets at the loading arm joints.
Just wondering.

Thank you. Yes I do have a lot of projects going on at the moment. Need something to do after my ankle surgery next week. As for the front loader, I’m not sure of the make. I don’t even remember where I go got it from.

good work on the MOW equipment.
Slap a new paint job and some weathering on the loader and it will look right at home

Thank you. I’ve actually did start to paint the loader. I’m getting ready to order decals for the MOW equipment here soon.

Last night while I was digging through some of my C&I stuff and found the old flat bed truck. Since I've changed from having a C&I layout to Conrail with the C&I being a branch line, I went and stripped all the paint off and painted the cab all yellow for the Conrail MOW Dept. I sat down and went through pictures of different MOW Equipment and found a truck close enough to this one. So the project started with getting the polystyrene out and below is the result. I've added sides, a toolbox under the bed and mudflaps so far. I just need to add a set of steps to both sides and then it's off to painting the rest of the truck and putting decals on.

Thank you.

I got the decals yesterday in the mail and right now I am finishing up the MT-4 slug and that will be ready to roll by the end of the week. Hopefully before my ankle surgery. I will have a lot of time to kill so hopefully I can knock out all my projects in the next 5 months. The biggest one I want to try to complete is the engine facility.

Another step closer to being done. Now just to get numbers on them, finish up the end of the N5C, add couplers to both of the cabooses and a few small details and then they will be ready.

So my surgery had to be rescheduled for Monday so that has given me a little bit more time of freedom. Last night I started to scratch build a interlocking tower for the division. This is a big task I am taking on but I wanted to have at least one tower scratch built on the layout. I am using an old house base but adding my own little touches to it. Some might call me crazy for all the projects I have going on right now, but it will help keep me busy and my mind off my ankle once I have the surgery. Below are two pictures of what I have done so far. This tower will not have any stairs on the outside as they will be inside.

Interlocking Tower AH will control Main 1 & 2, two crossovers in front of AH, The Dog Leg Lumber Line and Armagh Yard.

Thank you Mikey.

I did notice that I will have to get to the hobby shop before Monday to get more of the .060 - 1/4 scale 3x3 pieces as I do not have enough to complete the tower. The entire tower will have the old plank wood look to it once it’s finished. I’ve taken ideas from a couple different towers and I am throwing them all into one.

Ambitious, but a great idea for getting through recovery! Hope things go well with the ankle and all of the projects. Never would have thought of stacking styrene that way, but It's going to be quite solid!

Thank you.

I’ve watched my dad scratch build N Scale buildings growing up. Stacking it this way is giving it a good amount of strength and gives it that old plank wood look to a structure.

Sure does look pretty with the decals on it now. The decals arrived late in the mail yesterday and I immediately started cutting them out to get them.
