Greetings, gang.
81 with 88% humidity this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. Headed to the upper 90s again. I could have another day with a heat index near 120. Yesterday around 6 PM the heat index hit 119. No relief in sight until maybe Thursday evening.
With the excessive heat there's not been a lot of outdoor activity and it will probably stay that way til the weekend. I may go to the gym later but that requires ambition and I'm not finding any around the house.
Gas is down to $3.59.

Good morning.
My friend Arthur is visiting and has been for several days. He is wearing out his welcome. The cortisone shots didn't help this time and I don't want to have another surgery so for the time being I will grin and bare it. It's both shoulders now.
I worked on trains until the wee hours this AM. I put a sound decoder and current keeper in a PRR BP20 passenger shark. It appears to be working fine. I'll post a video later today. I need to put a rear couple on it before it can be placed in service. I have one more to do. It will be the freight version.
I bought some cheap solar lights with motion detection and I will put a few of them up today.
Hoping to get more train time with the rain coming today.

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Little bit of an update, I went to the doctors yesterday and got an x-ray done. He said the bone is almost healed and is the main issue why I'm still in the amount of pain I am in. He said the pain should start going down some over the next couple of weeks but could last up to a year in some people. Knowing my luck I would be one of those people. All I can do is sit and relax while going through this.
In the modeling world, I received two trackside signal boxes for the railroad but will need a few more. I was going to paint them today but mother nature had other plans and it has been raining all day so far. It's supposed to stop around 5 this evening but we have plans. There is always tomorrow to get them painted but I can work on the milepost signs or even put names on them. I haven't figured out which I want to do yet but it will be one or the other. Well I hope everyone has a great rest of their day. Take care my friends.

I managed to get to George's Trains today as my wife had a lunch with a couple of old work friends nearby. I was looking for trees but only found one pack I liked. I did find a Rapido city bus for a line that looped down our street for several years. (TTC Kipling 45).
The shop is just across a street from Rapido's international headquarters, but I only had an hour and a half that had to include driving and lunch.
It's probably 63 years since I first went to George's. Our school had a trip to a theatre in downtown Toronto. When we got off the bus my friend spotted a big sign a block away with "Trains" in it. We were back in time for the performance. George's kids have since moved the shop to the suburbs.

66 this morning under smoke tainted skies. 90 later.
Fairly routine day to start yesterday. Then I got a text from my daughter that my granddaughter-in-law was being sworn in as county auditor. News to me. Got a shower and went downtown. The previous auditor decided the job was too much and she couldn't find a "work-life balance." Translation - she actually had to work at the job. It was no surprise as the departing auditor has a history of not sticking around.
After lunch I went to a local sporting goods store and found a shirt with dinosaurs on it. My great-grandkids are always teasing me about being a dinosaur so I thought I would have a little fun with it. Now I just have to wait for the next family event.
Gas was down to $3.55 yesterday when I was out.

More haze this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. 69 now going to maybe the mid 80s this afternoon. Possibly an inch or more of rain overnight tonight and much cooler through the weekend.
I actually had a productive day outdoors yesterday. First up was a 13 mile bike ride. After that I cut back some bushes around the front steps before they attacked the postal carrier (think Little Shop Of Horrors). Finally I gathered up a bunch of leaves that had come down. Thank you squirrels. Final project was to gas up the SuperCruiser and pick up a few groceries. This morning I need to haul the yard waste to the disposal site. No other major plans for the day.

We have sun, going to the hi 80s for the day. No train news. We shopped yesterday, gas was $4.19 everywhere.
At least eggs are not five dollars a dozen anymore. But boy hamburger sure is up there.
