Good evening folks
It has been a long week and I’m glad it is over. Part of the frustration is having another Broadway Limited locomotive go haywire. I will post about it elsewhere some time over the weekend.
We don’t have any big plans for the weekend and holiday. Right now, my wife and I are trying to figure something out for Saturday. Looking maybe to visit a local museum or something similar. I know that a trip to the post office is needed because my wife sold something online. Sunday my wife, daughter, and I are going to see the Paranormal Circus during their visit to Oaks, PA. Before the circus, we are going to go to dinner. On Monday, we will try to relax around the house and perhaps cook something on the grill. Laundry could creep in and demand to be done this weekend.
I plan to put away the rolling stock from my latest train run. You can catch it on YouTube with the link at the end of the post. I plan to break in a couple of Reading RS-3 locomotives from Bowser and eventually build a train for them. I could locate and purchase a replacement West End Market, so I hope to work on that sometime over the 3 days. I may even try to renumber some more Accurail cars.

Happy Labor Day weekend, gang.
Hazy and 74 with 97% humidity and that pretty much describes the weekend. Highs in the 90s are predicted so it will certainly be uncomfortable to be outdoors for extended periods. I will definitely need to get my outdoor work done early in the day.
I did my outdoor work yesterday and was done by 11:30 but it was miserable even then. I cleaned up about 100 lbs. of acorns and got the yard mowed. This morning I need to dispose of the acorns and clean up the grave sites for my wife and son. I'll wait on the laundry until after I finish those projects.
A couple of weeks ago I decided to tackle a problem with a Proto 2000 0-6-0 which lacked pulling power. I had purchased it a few ears ago and have run it intermittently to break it in. According to an MR review it should supposedly pull over 20 cars. I can't get it to pull 10 and if there's any kind of grade it will only pull about 2 or 3 cars. So I was thinking (scary thought) that it just needed lubrication. Pulled the bottom plate off and it appeared there was a light oil already there. Figuring there was more of the drive mechanism inside the boiler I pulled the wheels of of their slots. Nope. No further access from that direction. Tried for the last couple of weeks to get the wheels back in their respective slots. Tried all kinds of tricks and tools to get it done. Then about 10 last night I was walking through the kitchen and decided to try again. No tools, just my fingers. In 10 minutes I had the wheels correctly located and the cover plate back on. Decided close enough for last night. This afternoon I'll finish putting it back together and give it a test run.
Tom - very nice video. Those engines have some serious power to pull a train that long.

Sun and 78 for the day. If we must say goodbye to summer at least, we have a Buckeye game at 12:30. Gas most places was 3.99 and up.

Greetings, gang.
70 degrees with a light breeze. High in the mid 80s with off and on chances for rain throughout the day and evening.
I did get all my chores accomplished and back indoors before it got too nasty outside. Also spent some time searching the internet and found out how to remove the boiler shell on my P2K 0-6-0. Today I 'll get it lubed and reassembled. Nothing else major planned for today with the possible exception of a bike ride.
On Friday gas took a very mysterious jump from $3.71 to $3.89. I'm certain it has nothing whatever to do with the holiday weekend.

Hello everyone,
Well lets see where do I start? I myself am doing pretty good but not so much my ankle. I have to go for an EMG on the 24th because my doctor is worried that there may be some nerve damage with the amount of surgeries I have had in the past 5-6 years. I am still in a lot of pain and can not put all my weight on my foot without it being in the walking boot. I am still on crutches almost 3 months later from this surgery. Other than that, things have been going good.
I am keeping my mind busy with the model trains and finding new projects to line up and do. The weather is warm during the day but at night now the temps are starting to get down into the 50's. We had a terrible storm move through last week and most of the Johnstown, Pa area lost power and still don't have power. Me and my fiance watched the storm move in while we was getting pizza for supper and got caught in it on our way home. Honestly that was the worst storm I've seen in a very long time.
Well not to much more is going on so I am going to finish watching the last 37 seconds of the Notre Dame / Wisconsin Game which Notre Dame is going to win since the score is 41-13. Anyways, have a good night everyone. Take Care My Friends.
