Why??!, Wayne, should your model windows be any different ?? 
Rapid Anti Insect Defense........( it comes in a can, and is better known as "Raid" ) will usually take care of the flies, and the spiders. You will, however, find that there are some bugs that simply........will always be frustrating! 
I though I had things under control using styrene for my buildings...............

Styrene eating termite facts:
They are the only known insects that naturally produce Acetone.
They are also the apex predator of LPB's. :o
Here,  is a Styrene eating termite, with his favorite snack....."Polystyrene pop corn"!

I was going to say "Never say never.", but then I'd be guilty, too. How about accentuate the positive, instead? We've all been at that point where we've said "I could never achieve that.", whatever your particular "that" might be. However, there are lots of talented people here willing to show their techniques, and answer questions or offer advice. You may be surprised at what you can do.

Josh, Herc, I am glad you enjoy watching me stumbling along ... thank you for your kind words.
squeaky, I back all that Wayne has said. You don’t know what you are capable of unless you try it out and often you will be positively surprised by the results. It is happening to me all the time. I only started with model railroading about 6 years ago, so I am not one of those experienced modelers.
Progress on my layout had come to a halt due to real life activites (job) and a little virus (nothing to do with pigs). Yesterday I weathered the latest additon to my roster, a Walthers 23000 gallon tank car. I only weathered it lightly, because a lot of those cars I have seen in pics are quite clean and I don’t want to have nothing but rust buckets on my layout.

Nice job on the weathering, Kurt. I especially like the wheel splash on the tank ends, and the over-all effect is "just right".

Sorry if i came across negative, I hope to be this good given time and I will keep trying. I just need to find somewhere that sells "spare time" as I don't have enough of it. Mind you spending too much time on forums doesn't help

I hesitated to show the pic of this tank car, because with only this subtle weathering I thought it was nothing special ... but if you want to have a realistic roster, not every piece of rolling stock can be "best of show". Glad you like it anyway!

Are you kidding me? That thing goes best of show in my book. What I like is how the black, while being black, really isn't just black. I can see some rust and variances all along the tank body, some areas even look a little pitted with a very dark rust, and lots of very subtle vertical streaking. To achieve this so perfectly took alot of time and effort and skill on your part, whether you realize it or not!

Beautiful layout. I needed to review this forum topic about seven times to absorb everything that you had accomplished. I am new to this forum, but have been friends with Lance for nearly two years. Lance was in Miami about three weeks ago and went through the East Rail section of his model railroad. Several things have changed including the fact that Seaboard Storage/Archive Americas is no longer receiving rail traffic. Lance snapped about 70 photos of the area since I needed additional structural photos showing the area as well as several additional photos of the Downtown spur that he needed to complete his current endeavor. The fuel storage tanks that are across from the Sentry building have been painted green. Sentry as you probably are aware is a supplier of chlorine and chlorine related chemicals for swimming pools. I am looking forward to additional posts and photos of this layout.

to the forum Roadman....If you're looking to see some of the best top-notch modeling, you've picked the right thread...!! Kurt does fantastic work and keeps us all wanting to see more...!!!
As you explore the forum you'll see many others who also do some terrific work that inspires everyone to go just a step further to achieve the "right" look....It can be a lot of work...but we do have great fun..!!
