Rihhhhhght ...I'm pretty dumb at this but 666....is the devils number right?? No wonder it is playing hard ball, might have to sell my soul to finish it huh??

I'm looking forward to seeing how that turns out myself. As I said before, the structures are fantastic. All the detail and weathering and character = A+!!

OK ..Back to the M.Balmers ..

As before, hi-tech masking agents still in place, the tower has been erected and the paint Job started

Oh I see the Boys are back, or their sign is anyway

The back


It was sprayed with a greyish paint (obviously :? ) Then an A/I wash was applied to get the mortar lines to show up old and dirty.
Maybe some more light washes in a few places then........... leave it ??

I then washed the dwelling which sits atop the roof with a nutbrown india ink solution

(And will wait to see if it is the right looking colour at the end of the build)

And applied the shingles to its roof

I see the sign's back, .....cheeky devils...

Then a test fit of the two

Enough work so soon after easter for the boys, they say they will be back after they recuperate.
'Till then keep modeling...

Did you seal the plaster before applying the paint, or did it go on it raw..??

A tip on using epoxy....Mix it on a flexible plastic lid, the kind used to cap peanut cans and such after they've been opened. After the glue hardens, just flex the lid & the glue "mound" will pop right off. A little rubbing alcohol on a rag cleans off any sticky residue left behind, and your fingers/hands which seem to get epoxy on them no matter how hard you try to keep them clean.....

Maybe those Kramer boys know something about M.Balmers you're not aware of....

First ... apply a few shingles to a few more roofs

Then cutting the glass for the windows..

Whoops.....posed a problem because of the recessed window cavities. the glass had to be cut exactly to shape. Start again.

And a few broken ones while we are at it

Paint the shutters to be old


And start installation


And test fit the roofs, now with flashing applied


Still a few more shingles to add to the (what was) broken peaked eave


I cut a hole in the tower rooftop to see if I could add a clock


It's Time but...
Can it be done?
Who knows ?
Have Kramers bitten off more than they can chew?

Do the have the technical know-how?

Will they run out of time?
Don't second guess, clock back on Later to see if the boys can be the masters of time.
Need to unwind, and go hide after that last bit

As I said a while back I have to go and sit on a tractor and earn a living, but It stopped raining here for a while so no could do. However we recorded about an inch of rain yesterday and it is still coming, so looks like my sabbatical is over for a bit.
Anyway here is the next bit of the M Balmers story...

They now have a clock.

And The War Office is still wondering where her Anniversary watch went.... so button the lip

Still need to embed the main roof a bit. but the skull dormers are affixed.

...And the other side, where the peaked eaves now have shingles


All parts are just sitting atop each other at the moment have still to fit them all, (Like buying a tailor made suit


Railing is to be added around the flat roof tops soon


This is where I thought I might plant it


It seems to overwhelm the area... It looks bl##dy huge


So a bit of structural work to complete. Going to give it some acreage to see if I can tone down its presence a bit

I guess its time I tried to do a bit more scenery work, seems it's been ages..

Jack It looks great. I have an idea , could you modify the tower enough that you could get an inexpensive (cheap) battery operated watch to adapt for the clock, then it would really tell the time.. That is if I didn't already miss you posting this.

I agree with Reinhard that plaster structures just have something about them that screams "first class" and is the epitomy of what model railroading is all about. Very nice structure. It turned out great. So any grief about the anniversary watch?

Yes Reinhard, they are certainly different from what I have played with before. I guess with familiarity you could really exploit the possibilities. I, at this stage, was quite content to see if I could get to the end without stuffing it up too much. :oops:

Hey Charlie, thanks for hanging around,... and I'll let you in on a secret.... when I borrowed the watch from "The War Office" it was going, but the sledge hammer required to set it in place seems to have upset the balance wheels some what, because now it is only right twice a day .
So I may return the watch to its rightful owner, and take up your suggestion and get one that works.

Thanks Gary, I hope I get better with practice, I do have a couple more kits, so we will see .....Grief ??? did you say grief about the watch?? No grief this end, at this stage she still thinks she left it in a motel a while back, well it is in a sort of big building ... kinda.. sort of.. like a motel..

and I don't much like getting too close to the place.

The Kramers have done a runner, so I guess that's the end of that project, and they can have a rest for a bit now I guess, surely earned it with this makeover.
