Today at Winslow, NJ - SRNJ units 803-800-3519-3578 MLW M420's shove hard to move a 50 car stone train up grade,it took them three tries to make it to the top.

Bruce, How steep is that grade? Did you get any video of them, the sound had to be awesome. Love those ALCO's (MLW's)

Was there any power on the other end? We were limited as to # of traction motors in use (a "Desk Engineer" decision) so as not to "lift-off" derail cars...don't see any sand and little exhaust from nearest two units, and 50 cars @ 110+ gross tons each would be a lot on any grade with 4800hp, let alone with marginal traction. How steep was the grade there? (Does anybody care?) 35 Nice Shot ! Thumbsup Bob

I asked about the grade and the guys from the SRNJ weren't sure but thought it was 2.5%, Charlie, no video or sound, but they sure did sound awesome. Bob they have to shove up to the NJ Transit Atlantic City Line to have the locos on the right end. Thanks for the comments.
