Major derailment in Oshawa
#1
I expect many folks will have heard about this by now. Today, there was a major derailment in Oshawa on a CP freight line. I was just watching the news and they said that some 27 cars had derailed. I saw some pics and the train was in a zig-zag shape! Fortunately, no one was injured although they have evacuated residents from their home in a 1 km radius (it was in a residential area).

Here a couple links on this story:

Looks like no one was hurt, and the only diesel spill/fire was from the fuel tank of the loco... better than an entire 20,000 gal tanker...!

Yeah - lucky no one was hurt. I still remember hearing (from 2 miles away) a derailment on the B&O. Best description I can muster is that first you hear the brakes Squeel... then you hear a very deep metal hitting metal (Think like a steel plate falling)

Then you hear the Metel hitting metal sound.. over and over.... The last derailment we had here was 20+ cars... lasted about 45 seconds... Then about 30 seconds later... All the fire sirens started.. Scarey - really scarey..... it was about 35 years ago...

~~ I wonder what that would look like in 1:20.3???
