For those of you that haven't yet seen it, the show, "Boneyard" will be airing the episode about recycling old railroad equipment. It will air tomorrow morning, June 28th on the HIST1 channel. Check your local listing, but it's on at 9 AM here in Arizona, so I'm assuming that it will be around noon on the east coast.
It's interesting. They show you how they recycle old rails and ties and even a locomotive and old car boneyard. They even go into how they restore old passenger cars.

I saw it, but felt that making millions of T-poles was hardly the only use for re-cycled rails. 8-) Interesting program, though. The whole Boneyard series is a decent one.

Yeah, I agree, but I guess there's a need for the fence posts and there's a supply of rails that does the job. What did they say, some 5 million posts a year, that's a lot of fencing.

It is, and it makes me wonder who the customers are.

Yeah, with just some rough calculations, we're talking almost 10,000 miles of fencing with posts spaced about 10' apart. That's three times from LA to NY. But, they may export a bunch too. That may only be once across Russia.

Yeah Pete, but they have to heat the rails up to 2200 degrees F. Would you do tht just to get your post count up?
