Brampton Model Railroad Show

Is anyone going to the Brampton, Ont show this weekend? I'll be there Saturday.

When I saw the title of the thread I thought it might be Brampton Cumbria, just a short train ride from me, but Brampton Ont is a little too far. :-)

We are just a short bus ride from the airport!
The town was named after a Brampton in England; a number of early settlers came from there.

I'd like to go but it's a busy time of year for us -- I should be able to get to more shows in November.

Are there many British layouts there? If there are, that could tempt me to try to go !

Don't know about layouts (usually no British) but I think at least 3 British dealers.

I always look forward to the Toronto Christmas Show because you usually get a few British layouts and larger scale live steam locos there. I really like seeing the Hornby Dublo and Triang layouts.

I spent today at the show and managed to spend the money that SWMBO gave me. (Basically, one coach and a herd of cows -- which ones are red?)
It seemed that there were more dealers -- they are now pushing their way from the outside ring into the middle -- and fewer layouts. NMRA and a couple of other groups had demonstration tables. Narrow-Gauge Madness were NOT there. There was a stretch of 5 tables with nothing on them but a group designation.
There was a layout in Z, a couple in N and a bunch in HO and a large area of floor with G on it. No S or O except for dealers, and no large scale live steam.
Brian Baldwin (BJB Enterprises) was having a 10% off closeout sale :cry: . David Foster of the British Connection was there, seemingly recovered after is stroke; he still can't drive because the driving testers are on strike and he needs to be retested.

Overall, would you say it was better or inferior to previous years ... or is it changing from a show to more of a flea market? I'm going to try very hard to attend the Toronto show and hopefully the Whitby show.

I think the participants this year were weighted more towards the commercial. Not exactly a flea market as many of the dealers were established firms. What I felt was that there was empty space where some clubs had not shown up.
