New Year's Hobby Resolutions

In the spirit of New Year's Resolutions I've decided to make one about my layout. Mine is to try to make my caboose roster more realistic. Do you have a hobby resolution for 2010?

Next year Ralph, you'll have tyo bump this thread up.
Just to see if we got anthing accopmplished.

Here's this years list:
Build benchwork for S&W main.
Lay track for the S&W.
Continue with scenery work(all parts of the layout)

Keep this list small this year. Last year I was kind of bold.

Hobby Resolutions ?

1 Get the benchwork for the home N scale layout completed with at least the mainline completed.

2 Get the On30 layout up and running.(got to get it started first)

3 Possibly build a new Z layout and convert the old one to Nn3.

4 Thin down the N scale car fleet,I have way top many cars and locos.

This should keep me going all year.

FINISH a layout! Yes, I will do it, likely in the next six months. Track has been finished, cleaned and tested and the buildings are off at the painter. All that remains are scenery and detailing which I plan to do in two or three marathon sessions this winter. Now if only I had a digital camera to post photos!

My resolutions will unfortunately revolve around the economy. I have curtailed much of my modeling the past few months because of job insecurity. I've kept up working on a few projects I have all the materials for. But, should I be able to resume my hobby budget shortly, I will complete all of my track laying, have all of my terrain built (no more bare benchwork), and some ballast and scenery completed.

Build the passenger station kit I got for Christmas, extend it's platform to 6', then scenick the area around it. Get the address for Jordan so I can request a replacement part for the one I lost for the steam crane kit, then finish that. Finish a few small structures and the roof details for my corp. headquarters bldg, and the peninsula with the yard and engine servicing facility will be complete with the exception of a small area which houses the end of the Garfield industrial area.

After that, remove the turnback trackage at the end of the other peninsula, and relay it removing the super elevation which I overdid and causes problems with some equipment.

Then I will return to finish that area which is the Garfield industrial branch, starting with finishing Quinn Ball Bearing, a scratchbuilt sand, stone and gravel dealer, and a Campbell kit.

If I get that much done, next would be the balance of the Garfield branch, street running trackage, some homes and stores, a cement plant, finish the Neilson Motors bldg, a stretch of trees and an oil distributor. No way I'll finish that!

Hobby Resolutions??

Let's see...

Well here is my to do list:

Home "Credit Valley" layout:

1. Finish replacing the defective turnouts.
2. Put decoders in the remaining 10 locomotives.
3. Convert the G-F 4-6-0 into a North American one.
4. Redo the "Forks of The Credit" tresle.
5. Continue constrcting the drawer full of strucures.

At The Shop:

Start the 2m x 1m layout and work on it a bit each week.

Looking back at my list from last year, things didn't turn out as well as planned, so for this coming year I will make one resolution:

I WILL finish ALL the trackwork on my layout and make it so I can run long trains without any fear of derailing.

Anything I do beyond this will be considered a bonus.

If you have a film camera take pics and when you get the film processed you can get a digital disk. the cost is minimal if not free/included in the price. If you have a scanner printer you can scan your photos and get a digital copy.

Oh this is supposed to be resolutions. Um, Um, Keep train building and layout clean like it is now after open house. Now that one will be tough to do.Try to go wireless on controls, that will be costly on my new budget.
