Some photos from down the road

Made a trip through the industrial park today, here are a few photos...

Caboose 791 and some switching moves

The rest are refrigerator cars, carrying potatoes. I especially like the ex-SF car, and some of them I guess to be ex-Milwaukee Road cars.

I just noticed that some of them have wheel inspection dots and one of them has an ACI label. So these have been around since the late 1970s.

I can see where you get the inspiration for your great weathering and distressed freight car painting Gary. Great stuff!

Thank you both.

Ralph, you are correct, the boxcars around here seem to be beat up quite a bit, and I derive inspiration from that. Of course, I am applying the current era's lack of upkeep to the 1970s when the equipment was probably kept in better condition. But that is okay, 'cuz I like it!

I looked up SLC on the net... San Luis Central, based in colorado. They list potatoes as one of their prime products for shipping. The building in the last photo is MountainKing Potatoes. I see these reefer cars here alot, mostly the same ones.

More photos from this morning. Some of the reefers had been moved from the indutrial park to the yard, and I caught some motive power moving around. Those reefers are some interesting subjects for modeling in my estimation.

You're welcome, sir. I had a good time driving around and taking them. I've got a bunch more, and will post them over the span of the next week or so. Didn't want to overwhelm the forum.... Wink

Something old...Something new......
A "Green Goat" in the front...a caboose bringing up the rear.
Nice pics, which also should squash some of that"When did they stop using cabooses" question that keeps popping up.

I went to my Happy Place, but it was closed for renovations.
