88's 2010 Spring Bash Challenge

You guys are doing some excellent work! Gonna be tough.

Instead of doing something that is/was protypical...I'm gonna have some fun with this!

I'm starting with these two bay window cabeese. The one on the left, is a show "bargin box" find. The one on the right is CNE's first caboose. Since this unit is old, and never see's action...Pretty much shelved.
   
The plan is two "slice and dice" the two, and put them together. Sorry for the rough cuts, it was quick.
   
   
Here's what I hope to end up with, except I'll more than likely paint them.....Hmmmmm.What scheme?.....

aha! I've always had a soft spot for the creative and whimsical creations in our hobby, especially when they look like something that could have existed. Call it the "limousine edition", but with all the weird MOW creations I've seen, it would not surprise me if something similar existed. Perhaps it exists somewhere as a some kind of track-inspection-dynamometer car, or maybe part of a rail grinding train. I like your idea

Edit: your post inspired me to do an internet search for dynamometer cars. Found one with two cupolas, and one with an extra long cupola. No bay windows yet.

OK...Gotta give kudos to you guys. You're all doing great work.

First cuts with my Dremel. Set on the lowest speed possible so as not to just melt the palstic. Both cuts made just in front of the bay windows I will sand down the rest.

Did some more.
All the parts and pieces ready to be put together.
   
Using scrap pieces of styrene, I braced the shell.
   
Bracing for the floor.
   
Shot of the underframe.
   

The "Cobbler", name derived from the words, "cobble"(as together) and "bobber"(like one of those narrow gauge caboose).
The gap will be filled with squadron putty.

Transfer caboose?..Maybe?....made with the leftovers from the "Cobbler".
   
Both cabeese together. Just got to get to the LHS for some Green Squadron Putty.

pretty danged cool! using scraps of styrene to strengthen the seams is a god idea. So good in fact, I wound up doing the same thing on my passenger car!
