i use hot glue to build turnouts i heat the rail to get a thin coat then when i put the ties in the jig i do use a soldering gun to reheat glue reason for this is if turnout needs tweaking before spiking down then just reheat it and move the rail but they seen to hold without the spikes but i don't want to risk it.
