Amtrak released 145 from Beech Grove this weekend and ran it east on the Capitol Limited Sunday night:

Pretty cool paint job. And it's actually nice to see that Amtrak is trying to please folks by doing this. (Maybe Norfolk Southern will get the hint and bring out their own heritage schemes...but I'm not holding my breath.)

Great shot Brian. Yeah it is nice to see that they did do a heritage unit in southern. Now it would be even better if they did one for PRR, PC, & NW. There is if im not mistaken a conrail unit at the railroad museum at strasburg.

You're so right about that GP unit dressed in Southern green, I forgot about that one...good picture.
I was thinking more on the lines of the other railroads that became part of NS through more heritage rather than purchase. Somewhere, somebody at NS must think it could be a great idea to blend some NS horse head with major railroads that it acquired or assumed.

The bloody nose will be interesting. I wonder how much money was spent repainting all of the different schemes? I liked the first one the best, but to each his own.
