Painting LPBs

This site was posted to another forum, and I figured some here may be interested:

I haven't tried this technique yet, but the results look much better than the factory painted figures.

Brian has been pushing this technique for years now.
He's also applied it to buildings.
He only laughed when I asked if he's painted the new room on his house black to start with. 35
I was about to start major figure work when my eye fell apart and I haven't got back to it yet.

Most modellers can get two of them to work.

HA! So do the figures look good in person? They almost look over-dramatic in photos, but definitely have more character than the standard LPB.

I have a co-worker who paints miniatures using this exact same method for his Swiss Army. He's been painting them like this for years and in his opinion is the only way to paint scale figures.

He also provided me with a link to a Warhammer painting guide. Except when you peruse this website there is also instructions on how the author uses a base coat of white paint to get better detail. However for our purposes I think the black undercoating for speed painting is best given our 1:87 sized LPB's
