I've been working on a couple of structures for the junction on the Poor Fork RR...
I've started a depot, & then I thought, "What's a steam-era shortline without a water tank?" Well, I thought I'd dig around in the scrap box, & see what I could come up with... I found this little tank thingy in a Walthers N scale Service Track kit... I used a square to draw some vertical guidelines on the tank, & then glued some 080x080 Evergreen styrene strip to the sides To make a support structure for the tank, I found some HO trestle bents in a Walthers O.L. King & Son Coal Co... I trimmed up a couple of the bents, & added some styrene strip for bracing... I primed everything with Floquil Roof Brown... -Drew- NARA Member #48 Life is all the stuff that happened while you were makin' other plans.

Then I drybrused with some Polly Scale Acrylics, in various shades of brown..
Then I drybrused with some Polly Scale Acrylics, in various shades of brown.. I made this roof out of 020 sheet styrene... After a botched attempt at making shingles from construction paper, I went back, sanded most of the flat black paint off the roof, & started making shingles out of strip styrene... I got some detailing done last night... I added a roof hatch... ..& I used the barrel of an old ball-point pen to make a standpipe for the bottom of the tank... -Drew- NARA Member #48 Life is all the stuff that happened while you were makin' other plans. |
