I found it on Google Images, I have to search for "Incentive per-diem boxcar", if you type "IPD boxcar" it thinks you tried to type "IPOD boxcar"

The following website
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/railroadlistAll.aspx has a plethora of box car photos as well as George Ellwood's website (no relation to the Blues Brothers)

Did I fail to mention that?
That's the reason that my layout will be in the late 70's to early 80's time period. I love the color and variety!

My name is Larry and I'm a IPD junkie..
And when a car shares your first name(Lawrence) how can you not like it?
In order to feed my IPD habit I decided to back date to the Southern in 78/79.

When I first got into the modular group, I was modeling C&NW diesel, and the rolling stock I was seeing in trains on the C&NW, in the Chicago area. So, I have a ton of IPD boxcars........balanced by a ton of kitbashed custom ( usually multi compartment ) tank cars.
My "addiction", however, is still Steam....even if it is current, and hauling 20' containers on 3' gauge, container cars ( not yet built, but designed and waiting ).
That's the beauty of
model railroading, some of it, at least, is "my world".

For those of us who are woefully ignorant - me -can you briefly define the "incentive-per-diem" concept? It sounds like "rent-a-boxcar" to me. :?

It is. The railroad pays a per day fee for everyday the car is on it's rails is the way I understand it. I'm sure Larry can give you even more ( and maybe more correct
) info.
