Did some searching around, I guess it's just one of the many versions of boxcar red...i thought there would be a distinct color for it, ill just wing it

Pinpointing a boxcar red exact color is a tricky endeavour. If your car won't be in pristine condition, a close match up would be enough since weathering and fading may alter drastically colors.

Good luck!

This car is an Athearn Genisis undec that I painted using Krylon reddish-brown primer. I thought it wasn't going to come out as boxcar red, and was going to live with it, but I'm happy with the results.

Krylon Red-Brown primer looks a little bit too much red when applied, but once decalled, sealed and lightly weathered, it gives an excellent result. Your car turned out very nice!

Finally got around to painting and finished decals on one of the ECOX boxcars. I used Polly Scale Mineral Red, I'd say it's close enough..
