Hi guys....Does anybody know what the inside and outside radii are for Peco's curved turnout..??
I would rather spend a few $$'s and modify my track plan somewhat than try to hand-lay one...
In case push comes to shove, where could I get PCB and wood ties for the job..??

Gus, the numbers in the chart Svein posted are right. The radii of Peco code 100 and code 75 curved turnouts are 1524/762 mm. If you want to hand-lay a curved turnout, I think the easiest way is to use a track template from Fast Tracks: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.handlaidtrack.com/HO-Scale-Printable-Track-Templates-for-Curved-Turnouts-s/106.htm">http://www.handlaidtrack.com/HO-Scale-P ... -s/106.htm</a><!-- m -->. Print it out, glue the PCB ties to the printout and then you can easily position the track. Fix it with adhesive tape for soldering. You can get all the PCB ties and woodties you need at Fast Tracks. If you want to build only one TO, then I would get a piece of PC board and some stripwood and cut the ties myself.

Gus!
My expierences with this Peco #7 curved switches:
Outside radius is large enough to generate a acceptable look when locos of this size (2-6-6-2 USRA) are passing.
But the inner radius only switchers and small sized steamers should ride there. Even a Mikado looks strained there.
But when you have steamers with flangeless wheels, you better buy the electrofrog version.
The flangeless drivers can cause short circuits by bridging the insulated gaps.
In this case of an insulfrog Peco #7, pictured above, i have had to rebuild the frog in situ to electrofrog configuration.

WoW..!! 30" and 60" radius..?? That's meant to be used in a WIDE countryside setting...Not in a raggedy, mountain-enclosed terrain...
Looks like I''ll have to build my own....
Thanks for the info on Fast Tracks...

… and the radii of a Peco code 83 curved turnout are 60" and 36" … just for the sake of completeness  .

What sort of radii were you hoping for? Peco do one in their Settrack range that is 17 1/4 and 19 7/8.

I found a template in Fast Tracks for a 24"/21" which is close to what I need. I'll just "fudge" it a little and it'll do OK....

There are downloadable track templates, for Peco switches.
My suggesetion:
Load ist down as pdf.
Set printer scale to 100%.
Print plan.
Cut it out and see if and how it will fit.
I hope this will answer some questions.

The Peco Curved turnout on my layout is approximately 18" and 22". I cannot remember the part number, but I still have the box.

Thanks for that info....I had already checked it out and had come to the conclusion that that turnout was just too "big" for the space available.
The Fast Tracks version is a lot better fit for the space available.

Hi, I used a program called Templot back home when I used to hand build track. Its a steep learning curve with excellent tutorials . <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_postx.php?post_id=10771">http://85a.co.uk/forum/view_postx.php?post_id=10771</a><!-- m -->

FWIW - the Peco Setrack range has changed over the years - the current curved ones are a larger radius, and longer, than the original ones - and note - Code 100 only If anyone needs to see the difference I'll try to take a photo so let me know

Thanks for the info & offer...But it's been several years since I purchased and installed the Peco....
It required a little tweaking, but works and looks great..!!
