Some more progress at Canardière Road overpass. That scene is taking forever to get done, but that's the price to pay to be prototypical as can be. Only when the bridge will be done and the road completed we will be able to move forward and start relaying the track.
I won't be reusing the concrete bridge I once done of that overpass. I used Rix overpass as a basis and it wasn't exactly looking like the real thing. Here you can see what it looks like:
The new one will be built in similar fashion but with the right dimensions and without using the Rix parts (except the iron railings). Louis really did a fantastic job on the Art Deco central pillar. Hard to tell he got that result with a table saw. I only need to smooth it and add details. You can also see the new overpass part made of MDF.
Finally, this morning I built the overpass sides with styrene. I went better than I first thought. It's my third try building this overpass, I guess experience is pay off! Also, the picture show a nice view of the central pillar.
When all parts will be done, I'll rough them up a little bit to make them look like very distressed concrete. The overpass was refurbished about 20 years ago, which means it was probably in bad shape in back in the late 70s (it was originally built in 1931 to give job during the 30s recession).
