Check this out! Wild ride for sure.

It runs fine, just drags the wheels a little on the frame.

You need to slow it down a littel bit when you are running a swiching train they go slow. It looks like it did great.

Oh I know! That was full blast! I was just trying to show that the tight curve works. I couldn't get it to derail, even though the track is just pinned down and sloppy in places right now.

I have video of it closer to scale speed, but couldn't get it to upload. Once I get a dcc engine, I should be able to crawl it thru there smoothly.

Believe me - a DCC loco won't necessarily crawl any better than a DC loco. I have a twin motored 44-Tonner by Bachmann in HO which will move 5" in 6 minutes - get, or build, a DECENT quality DC PWM (Pulse width Modulated) throttle - <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www3.sympatico.ca/kstapleton3/851.HTM">http://www3.sympatico.ca/kstapleton3/851.HTM</a><!-- m --> can be bought as a kit or built (just a VERY satisfied customer!)
or try
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.awrr.com/throtl2.gif">http://www.awrr.com/throtl2.gif</a><!-- m --> to which you can latter add this <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.awrr.com/scaler2.html">http://www.awrr.com/scaler2.html</a><!-- m -->
Unless you really need to run more than one train on a layout at a time, the extra cost of DCC is a waste of resources

Hey Guys!

I guess it's that time of year again, so I thought I'd dig this oldie up! I've been messing around with this a little lately. Since my last posts, I've added a new layer of foam to extend the depth to 15", and 18" at the bump. It opened up things somewhat. I've got most of the track soldered in to one piece, no feeders yet.

My concern, at least for right now is making the scrap yard look bigger than I have room for. My thought right now is to hide track and run it through the arched building and then be able to spot the gons at the left end of the layout. Hard part would be to not make it look goofy with a hole running through it. I could use some of the buildings to hide it, and since it will just be gons, the height can be somewhat low.

I have access to a wide format printer and will go to Shamrock to take pictures of all the scrap piles and make that part of the backdrop.

Can someone point me toward some pics of track hidden inside buildings?
