I got an email with a video of why we must remember to put clearance signs by our Railroad overpasses.

Ouch!
Biggest problem that I know of from personal experience is that many people simply do not know the exact height of their vehicle or trailer.

You don't suppose they could save a lot of cleanup there by lowering the street a bit, do you?
That's got to be one crazy intersection, I like that it peels some roofs like an apple, and others it stops in their tracks.... uh, so to speak..

One truck even moved the bridge. I hope that bridge has slow orders.

Seems to be several rental trucks where ( probably ) inexperienced drivers wouldn't know the height of the truck .

I have seen rental trucks with the hight written reversed so that it's prominent when looking in the rear view mirror. Still, you are right, a lot of those trucks were indeed rentals.

they have the height on the truck. People don't always pay attention. I see tractor trailer drivers always getting stuck, if not sheared, under overpasses. If you're lucky enough to only be stuck, you just let the air out of the tires.

On our motorhome, I put a label on the rearview mirror with the height of the vehicle on it. In both English and Metric. How long does it take you to translate the height from one to the other?
Fortunately, the back window of the MH only takes a third of the mirror, so I got 2 labels on the side.

David I think you convert by "doubling it and adding 32 " ....according to Bob and Doug McKenzie

So the thing is 3.4 m high...
I hear that the railway added a steel beam ahead of the bridge to take the strain.

I was thinking that this would be an interesting scene to model.

Still, my solution to this would be to lower the street by about 12-18 inches, unless the city enjoys picking up the pieces every few days.

Complete with damaged truck?
There is an overpass not far from my house where trucks have hit on two occasions.

With a damaged truck and a cop out with a ticket book while a crew tries to extricate the truck (maybe some firemen?).
